COMMON NAME: Keruing
The grain of Keruing is even, medium texture. Moderately durable and stable in service.
COUNTRIES OF DISTRIBUTION: India, Indonesia & Malaysia
HEARTWOOD COLOUR: Reasonably consistent in colour. Brown, black, green. Will darken with age.
SAPWOOD COLOUR: Grey brown. Not significantly distinct from heartwood.
WORKING PROPERTIES: Easy to glue and bore. Planes and moulds fairly well. Severe blunting effect on cutters and difficult to sand due to high silica content.
