PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Texture is even and uniform, grain interlocked. Can contain both gum and mineral deposits. Naturally durable and resistant to termite and marine borer attack. Hard timber with high crushing strength. Very good stability in service.
WORKING PROPERTIES: Bores, planes, moulds, glues well. Pre-boring recommended when nailing and screwing. Can be harsh on equipment when cutting seasoned timber, severe blunting effect. Finish when staining and polishing is satisfactory. |
